Questions

Is this PDF to Markdown converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark. Each PDF can be up to 10 MB and 100 pages, and you can convert 10 a minute.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
No. It reads the text a PDF carries, and a scanned PDF holds pictures of pages instead. Run a scanned PDF through OCR first, then convert the result.
How does it find headings, paragraphs and lists?
From the layout. A line in a larger font, a numbered section such as 2.1, or a short line in capitals becomes a heading. Lines join into paragraphs, words split by a hyphen at a line's end are mended, bullets and numbers become lists, and running titles and page numbers are dropped.
Does it keep tables and images?
No. A table's cells come out as lines of text, and images are left out.
Why convert a PDF to Markdown for an LLM?
Claude, ChatGPT and other models read text, not pages. Markdown gives them the PDF's words with its headings and paragraphs, in a format they handle well, and you can read what you paste.
Do you keep my PDF?
No. The PDF is read to make the Markdown, and neither is stored.
Can my AI agent read my PDFs without copy and paste?
Yes, with Bacopa. Upload a PDF or save a link, and Bacopa turns it into facts and a brief that Claude Code and other MCP clients search.
